Candidates:

Susana Martinez: Martinez is the district Attorney for the 3rd Judicial District in Dona Ana county, New Mexico, a position she has kept for 13 years. Last year she put in to run for governor of New Mexico. She wanted to change wasteful spending, higher taxes, and end “pay to play.” Since her beginning election, she has been elected 3 times. She is known as a “Game Changer, and is known to really change stuff if voted as governor.” She has shown to get majority of her votes from people of all backgrounds. She won several elections as a Republican, where in the area Republicans were outnumbered 1 to 3. She fights for justice and her citizens. In addition to running the second largest DA’s office in the state, she tries the hardest cases, child abuse and child homicide. She was known as “Woman of the Year” in 2008.

Key Points in race:
Needless to say, these numbers have been a drag on his lieutenant governor’s bid to occupy the statehouse this fall. Republicans have nominated Dona Ana County (Las Cruces) District Attorney Susana Martinez to be their standard bearer. Martinez has narrowly led Denish in the polls, but it is early, the leads are small, and there is plenty of time for the state’s Democratic tilt to pull the race back towards the Democrats.

You will need to have posted on your wiki an analysis of how closely your two candidates’ positions on the key issues align with either the Democratic or Republican platform, based on your knowledge of the platforms:

Susanna MArtinez- She is in fact referring to the Republican Side. She is all about the people, and she wants to do MORE for the people. Susanna wants to cut taxes, as well as give more so people can get and hold jobs. With more jobs, she believes the pay would better. She wants to end corruption in government and fight to reform education. She also wants to get rid of wasteful spending.

Contrasting: Her beliefs are the same as the Republicans beliefs in many ways, but can also disagree with some of the ideas. She supports education, and she wants to end corruption within education lines, but she also wants to take money from Public Schools, and give them to Private Schools. I do not believe Republicans think this would be a good idea or not.
“For months, Susana Martinez told Republican audiences that she supports a voucher plan that takes money out of our public schools and gives it to wealthy private schools."

Diane Denish: She is in fact a Democrat. She does like to use money spending and usage on charities and what not. She uses the money to go towards mostly children based charities.

Contrasting: She does have the same beliefs as Democrats. She uses the money to spend in charities, and that is what she looks for. But, I believe giving it to mostly children funded charities is not really what the Democrats do. They do give their money away, but i believe to more government related issues. The children spending is really good, but it is just unique that that is what she wants to spend the money on.
“As someone who has worked with New Mexico teachers and parents for years, I know what it’s going to take to strengthen and transform our public schools. We must fully fund our public schools and give our teachers the support they deserve and need."

Both Candidates are maintaining a good position in the race. They are both keeping a good hand in the race with their own ways. They each have their own way of fundraising, and to the media fundraising is the biggest thing that is helping these candidates. It seems to the media, that Martinez has an upper hand of the race. She has raised over 1.4 million dollars in fundraising, and this number is helping her greatly. She tells press that Diane Denish is saying false information about her. She is doing a great job in the race, and media is hoping to see more.

Diane Denish has an alright position in the race. She is trying to pull her poles up, by leaking out information about her opponent. She is telling the press that Martinez is pulling money out of private schools, and giving them to public schools. Even though her opponent is denying it, she is telling the press that she is doing that, and she is the one to put in the position, because she will use that money to support the schools that need it the most.

While I was looking at the summaries of both of these candidates, there is media that is going against and for each candidate. I came tot he conclusion, that you will always find some stuff on the candidates that goes for and against them. No matter where you look, everyone will have an opinion, even if it means it is not for the candidates beliefs. The media is saying that Susanna Martinez, is getting more coverage than Diane. Only because her fundraising for her position has gone up to an extreme amount. I also believe with the media, they are not necessarily pulling for one side, but when they see a candidate doing very well, well then I think they will take advantage of that and try to put more coverage on blast for the specific candidate.

Susanna Martinez is up by ten points. She is in the lead of the race, and has the majority vote by the Democrats.

THE WINNER IS: Susanna Martinez.

After months of a long hard campaign, Susana Martinez isn't taking the day off. Martinez won't officially be sworn in as New Mexico's governor until Jan. 1, but Wednesday she traveled to Albuquerque to work on building her transitional team. Not only will Martinez become the state's first female governor, but it's also been more than 20 years since the governor came from southern New Mexico.

As governor, Martinez's response to the job is balancing the budget. This is her first priority.

Her win has been all over the news as well as Twitter and Facebook. Some people are excited about her win, and then you have others that have a negative response and some who are skeptical about the win.

Most of her work will not be completed until next year!
